Hey everyone.
I am starting the Master Cleanse and thought that I would keep a blog incase anyone wanted to know or read about it. Hope you enjoy :)
You would think living in Hawaii would cause you to always eat healthy, but nooooo...Since junk food and SUGAR is cheaper, it is displayed EVERYWHERE and it front of your face.As the result to my recent, constant sugar/junk attacks, I have decided to do the well-known Master Cleanse for ten days and possibly longer (depending on how I feel). I am also really hoping to see my skin clear up & for it to be a clean slate to start making things from scratch (salad dressings, soups, breads, etc.). I have read that the cleanse will help wipe clean your cravings for unhealthy foods, tobacco, alcohol, and as a result give you lots more energy. I have wanted to try it for a long time but was afraid of losing too much weight. I have since learned that most of the weight that you lose is water retention and unwanted toxins/food that has been digested just not evacuated. So it's all the processed food, sugar, saturated fats, and that good but gross stuff. For those of you who don't know what it is, it is a diet/detox that consists of drinking a mixture of:
- Purified or spring water
- Grade B maple syrup
- organic lemons
- cayenne pepper
Results
- healing properties
- weight-loss
- loss of water retention
- Many more that are described in detail on themastercleanse.org
- removing toxins
I started with the ease-in, which gets your digestive system prepared for only having liquids. It is not required, but highly recommended. It also helps you mentally prepare for the cleanse.Day 1 of Ease-In
Just consists of your normal diet.Day 2 of Ease-In
I ate only raw fruits and vegetables and drank only filtered water. I used a Brita filter but have learned that it is best to use 100% spring water or purified water. I have read that a lot of filters don't remove the chemicals, just the taste and odor. Better to be safe than sorry!! The fruits and veggies satisfied me throughout the day. I didn't get any real hunger pains. Since fruits do contain sugar (even though natural), I was careful to eat more vegetables. I had a horrible headache this day but was almost positive it wasn't from not eating regualr food.Day 3 of Ease-In
On this day you're suppose to juice all of your fruits and vegetables and drink only purified water. I do not have a juicer so it was recommended to just eat soups or broths, of course trying to eat only organic soups with no dairy or unnecessary, added ingredients. I worked all day on this day and for the most part felt fine. I got a little weak at the end of the day but slept great!!Day 4 of Ease-In
Only pure water and 2 liters of fresh squeezed orange juice. I bought a little manual juicer at Ace hardware for $6 for my oranges and it worked just fine. Try and get organic oranges so that you are getting the freshest, rawest item. If you need more calories for the day, it is ok to add a little grade B maple syrup to the OJ. I again worked all day on this day and was again a little weak towards the end of the night. I wasn't able to drink as much water as I probably should have, being at work and all, but survivied. I than came home and drank a cup of Smooth Move Organic Herbal Laxative Tea, which is required each night. I just made sure to keep myself mentally prepared all day. Not letting my mind wonder off into thinking about eating. I have set a goal for myself and won't let my mind be satisfied until I complete it.
I am very excited to start the actual cleanse tomorrow and curious to see how much gunk comes out of my body. I will keep you posted on more steps to this cleanse and how I feel. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks :) and hope this motivates you to give it a try!!
